About Our Accommodation

Lockerbrook offers three accommodation options:

  • Bunk barn, sleeping up to 38 in seven rooms
  • Wardens Cottage- sleeps 6 in two twins and one double
  • Camping Field- for Duke of Edinburgh and other one night youth expedition camping – up to 25 people

 

When you book, you’ll have the whole place to yourselves – We only hire out Lockerbrook on a sole use basis

Your booking fee includes: Bedding (duvets with duvet covers, sheets, pillows and pillowcases), full central heating & hot water, a large social space with two full size table tennis tables, Wi-Fi, fully equipped kitchen, washing up liquid and tea-towels, and complimentary supply of logs for your first night.

Schools and Youth Groups

At Lockerbrook, we welcome school groups who are looking for a unique and personal experience for residentials. We only take one group at a time and can accommodate up to 38 guests in our bunk barn accommodation.  If you need more space you can also book  our  cottage which sleeps up to 6 and 1 twin in the West Barn which is adjacent to the bunk barn.

We can help you organise a fully supported programme of instructor-led activities with our activity partners and catering and also provide for school-led residentials or a combination of both. A programme will be developed to meet your needs and your budget.

Our location feels remote and provides a real opportunity for a digital detox for young people. Please contact our team to discuss your requirements and we will provide you with a quote.

We welcome youth groups and organisations to Lockerbrook. As part of the Woodcraft Folk a youth-led movement in the UK since 1925 we strongly support young people to have opportunities to come together to have transformative experiences. We can provide you with support to put together a programme of activities and catering to enable you to have a fantastic residential. Equally if you want to organise your own activities and catering this is also possible. If you would like to find out more please contact one of our team.

Friends, families and special interest groups 

Lockerbrook is the perfect group accommodation for family and friends gatherings.

Our well equipped bunk barn sleeps up to 38 in bunk bed dormitories 1 x 12 bed, 1 x 10 bed, 1 x 6 bed, 4 x 2 bed with 2 fold-away beds. Available for hire separately there is also an extra twin room next in the West Barn and 3 rooms sleeping 6 in 2 twins and a double in the onsite Wardens Cottage. Giving a total of 46 indoor spaces. The camping field (tents only) is also available to hire for up to 20 people.

Self catering kitchen and large activity room are also included.

You can enjoy stunning views down to the Ladybower Reservoir and are a great base to explore the stunning Upper Derwent Valley’s many footpaths and bridleways. We can also provide catering and  can help you arrange instructor-led activities.

Lockerbrook is the perfect group accommodation for special interest groups such as mountain bikers, walkers, trail runners, ornithologists and botanists. We are also a perfect fit for groups wanting to hold a retreat such as yoga groups due to our remote (yet accessible setting). As we only have one group in at a time you can be sure of having a very special stay in this most stunning location in the Peak District. The Centre is extremely well maintained and equipped and can accommodate up to 38 persons in bunk beds. There is a large social space with log burner as well as a 5 star professional kitchen and dining room. We can also provide catering and help to organise instructor-led activities to groups with advance notice.

Duke of Edinburgh and other expedition youth camping.

Our camping field is open 2026 – Sunday 1 March to Saturday 31 October 2026.

We normally only provide unsupported (no staff on site) camping facilities for young people on expedition working towards their Gold, and Silver awards. We can take up to 25 young people from multiple groups, or slightly more if from one panel, school or organisation. Please contact us by email if you would like us to accommodate a larger group.

We are sometimes able to host Bronze groups and visiting leaders or assessor’s vehicles but only by prior arrangement.
